"No priesthood officer is to counsel a person whom to marry. Nor should he counsel a person to divorce his or her spouse. [One wonders why it is necessary to put this rule in a church handbook]"

Aside from the fact that priesthood officers counsel people WHEN to marry all the time (including "do you love her? Then why don't you get married! see -- not who, but when!), one does wonder why it says to not counsel divorce.

Sometimes, divorce is best. But a Bishop can never say that under any circumstances. Is the church that worried about lawsuits? Or is it something worse?
